How to Apply
Self-Generation Home
Step 1:
Check the latest version of the Self-Generation Incentive Program Handbook as well as any applicable Interim Changes to make sure you meet all the eligibility requirements. These can be found on the 2008 forms page.
Step 2:
Collect the following information (for a more specific explanation of the information required, see Section 4.3.2 of the 2008 Handbook.)
- Proof of Utility Service – To demonstrate proof of utility service and utility service territory, submit a copy of both your electricity bill and Gas Company bill.
- Total Installed Project Cost Estimation – Applicants are required to submit an estimate of the Total Installed Project Cost. This information is to be inserted into Section 6 of the Reservation Request Form.
- Other Funding Sources – Projects, which may receive funding from sources other than this program, must submit documentation confirming funding source and amount of funding. This funding may be from any other source, and received before, during or after equipment installation.
- Additional requirements for --
-
Level 2 Renewable Non-Solar
- Proof of Adequate Renewable Fuel – Applicant must submit an engineering survey or study confirming that there is adequate on-site renewable fuel (i.e., adequate flow rate) for continuous operation of the self-generation unit for the term of the project’s required warranty/maintenance period.
-
Level 3 -- Non-Renewable/Non-Solar -- as applicable
- Waste Heat Recovery Calculation/Justification -- Applicant must submit a system description, a copy of the engineering calculations, data used, and all assumptions used in the calculation of system efficiency to demonstrate compliance with the Program’s waste heat utilization requirements (PU Code 218.5).
- Power Factor (PF) Specification – Applicants must submit self-generating facility design specifications and/or manufacturer’s specifications which show that the system will be capable of operating between 0.95 PF lagging and 0.90 PF leading.
- Proof of Emission Qualifications – Applicants must provide documentation that substantiate that the generator’s emissions are at or below the applicable emission standard. Units that do not pass the emission standard may use emission credits if they meet or exceed the 60% minimum system efficiency.
- Minimum System Efficiency Specification – If the Applicant wants to claim emission credits for their waste heat utilization, they must provide manufacturer specifications and calculations substantiating the System Efficiency of the generator.
- Emission Credits - If the Applicant wants to claim emission credits for their waste heat utilization and they meet or exceed the Minimum System Efficiency requirement, they may claim emission credits based on the amount of waste heat utilized over a twelve-month period.
Step 3:
Print and fill out both the Reservation Request Form (don't forget to sign it).
Step 4:
