About The Self Generation Incentive Program

Assembly Bill AB 2778 Renewed the Self Generation Incentive Program. Following are the key aspects:

  • Runs through 12/31/2011,
  • Limited the program to the following technlogies
    • Fuel cells
    • wind turbines
  • Incentive Rates set at (see table below)

Who is Eligible?

Keep in mind the following eligibility requirements for the The Gas Company's Self-Generation Incentive Program. For a complete listing of eligibility requirements, check the Program Handbook (Adobe PDF, 1.7 MB).

• Applicant must be a customer of The Gas Company.

• Applicant must install new, permanent, and eligible self-generation equipment. This excludes demonstration units.

• Self-generation equipment must be connected to the grid and installed on the customer's side of the utility meter.

• Self-generation equipment must offset a portion, if not all, of the facility electric load. Units used solely as backup generation or intended to wheel electricity are not eligible.

• Applicants electric load cannot be on interruptible rate schedules (such as SCE I-6) or load management programs.

• Applicants cannot apply to two or more administrators for funding for the same project. This also applies to the CEC Emerging Renewable Technology Buy Down Program.
