California Advanced Homes Program

Building today for tomorrow's environment

We've got the blueprint to build more environmentally friendly communities.

Our new California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP) highlights best practices in energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. The CAHP program offers generous financial incentives and "bonus kickers" to help builders and architects create environmentally friendly, energy-efficient communities for potential new home buyers. This program will be effective from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2012.

Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), San Diego Gas & Electric®, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric Company are working together to help the building industry design and develop more environmentally friendly communities.

New Incentives for 2010

Based on the energy efficiency of your project, you may qualify for additional incentives and "bonus kickers."

Climate Zone Fact Sheets

It's important to know the climate zone of your building project. For example, in a hot area like Climate Zone 10, improving cooling efficiency will be more important than it is in a coastal area like Climate Zone 7. To participate in the California Advanced Homes Program, builders must complete an application and submit compliance documentation.

Climate Zone information, including a map and list of Climate Zones by city, is available on the California Energy Commission's website. *
