California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP)

New 2013 Residential Certified Energy Analyst Requirement

Starting January 1, 2016, all residential Title 24 documents submitted to the California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP) must be signed by a 2013 residential Certified Energy Analyst (CEA). This update will apply to both single family and low-rise multifamily projects. The modeling certification requirements for multifamily high-rise projects will not be affected by this change, but will be updated at a later date. Please find information on CEA qualification and testing on the California Association of Building Energy Consultants (CABEC) website.

Building today for tomorrow's environment

We've got the blueprint to build more environmentally friendly communities.

Our 2014-2015 California Advanced Homes Program (CAHP) encourages best practices in energy efficiency, green building and sustainability. CAHP offers generous financial incentives and "bonus kickers" to help builders and architects create environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient communities for potential new home buyers. This program will be effective through December 15, 2015.

SoCalGas®, San Diego Gas & Electric®, Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas and Electric Company are working together to help the building industry design and develop more environmentally friendly communities and support State efforts for new homes to reach Zero Net Energy (ZNE) by 2020.

The CAHP Handbook offers much more on program requirements, incentive information and applications for program participation.

SoCalGas and LADWP

SoCalGas offers the 2014-2015 California Advanced Homes Program in our shared service territory with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP).

Please note: For projects in which SoCalGas provides the natural gas and the electricity is provided by a municipal utility other than LADWP -- examples include, but are not limited to, Anaheim Public Utilities, Riverside Public Utilities and Imperial Irrigation District -- only natural gas saving incentives will be available from CAHP.

Climate Zone Information

It's important to know the climate zone of your building project. For example, in a hot area like Climate Zone 10, improving cooling efficiency will be more important than it is in a coastal area like Climate Zone 7. To participate in the California Advanced Homes Program, builders must complete an application and submit compliance documentation.

Climate Zone information, including a map and list of Climate Zones by city, is available on the California Energy Commission's website.*
