Help a friend or neighbor keep warm this winter by donating to GAF
Each year, the Gas Assistance Fund helps customers who are having financial difficulty with paying their winter gas bills. This program is made possible by generous donations from our customers, employees and shareholders.
Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and United Way of Greater Los Angeles work with approximately 80 to 100 volunteer nonprofit, community based organizations to assist income qualified customers with obtaining a grant to pay their SoCalGas bill.
The 2011 GAF raised $400,000.00 in shareholder contributions and received an additional $3 million in ratepayer funding. The Gas Assistance fund provided 11,512 households an average gas bill assistance of $84.80 for the program year.

Do you need help paying your winter gas bill?
The Gas Assistance Fund (GAF) may be able to provide you with a one-time grant for the amount of the bill, not exceeding $100.
Between February and April (or until funds are depleted), GAF is available to help qualified customers who are having difficulty with paying their gas bills. Customers must not apply for more than one GAF allowance for the current program year.
Who qualifies for GAF assistance?
To qualify for GAF customers must meet the following requirements:
- The gas bill must be in the name of the customer requesting assistance.
- The bill address must be the customer's primary residence.
- The customer must not apply for more than the maximum GAF allowance for the current program year.
- The customer must meet the income guidelines listed below

1 Shareholder donations to the Gas Assistance Fund do not affect gas rates.
