Energy Upgrade California® Home Upgrade

Make your home more energy-efficient

Have you noticed drafts or other air leaks in your home and wondered how to fix them? Well, look no further than our Home Upgrade program. The program offers two upgrade packages and is designed to help customers take a comprehensive, “whole-house” approach. Multiple improvements, made at the same time, work together to make your home more comfortable, improve air quality, help you save energy and possibly lower your energy bills.1 To help offset costs, eligible customers can receive incentives of up to $6,5003 for complete home upgrades.

Home Upgrade - Earn up to $3,0002

Home Upgrade will improve your home’s energy efficiency. Choose from a combination of the following Base and Flex upgrades:

  • Air sealing
  • Attic insulation
  • Duct sealing
  • Wall insulation
  • Heating and cooling equipment
  • Floor insulation
  • Other eligible energy efficient options
(see a participating contractor for more details)
Minimum of three upgrades required; one of which must be a Base upgrade.

Advanced Home Upgrade - Earn up to $6,5003

Advanced Home Upgrade examines every nook and cranny in your home and identifies a customized plan to achieve energy reductions of up to 45%. Starting with an energy assessment of your home, your participating contractor or Whole-House Energy Rater will work with you to identify ways to save the most energy. Your incentives depend on the energy savings of your project - up to $6,500.

Typical projects in Advanced Home Upgrade include the above Home Upgrade measures plus:

  • High-efficiency furnace
  • Energy-efficient cooling equipment
  • Water heater system
  • Energy-efficient windows
  • Duct replacement
  • Wall insulation
  • Other eligible energy efficient upgrades (see a participating contractor for more details)

Assistance programs for income-qualified customers

Some income-qualified customers may be eligible for the Energy Savings Assistance program and/or a 20% bill discount under the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program.
