What is the ERC?
Southern California Gas Company's Energy Resource Center (ERC) is a model of advanced, energy-efficient and environmentally sensitive building technology. Designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as an "Energy Star Building," the ERC showcases innovations in resource-efficient designs, materials, technologies, techniques and equipment to help businesses make informed choices about energy consumption and conservation.
What is the mission of the ERC?
The ERC's mission is to serve as a one-stop "idea shop" where customers can find the most efficient and environmentally sensitive solutions to their energy needs.
How do you get more information on the building and/or seminars?
Where is the ERC?
The address for the ERC is 9240 E. Firestone Blvd., Downey, CA. We are approximately 20 miles east of Los Angeles at the center of the Los Angeles/Orange County Metropolitan area. Refer to the area map for more information.
Is the ERC a new building?
The ERC made use of an existing Southern California Gas Company building. Approximately 60% of the old building materials were either left in place, removed for future reinstallation or recycled. About 80% of all ERC construction materials, internal furnishings and displays are either recycled, contain recycled materials, or are made of renewable resources.
