World Ag Expo in Tulare, California on Feb. 14 – 16, 2012
Hal Snyder, Vice President, Customer Solutions at Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), addressed the agricultural industry and community leaders at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, Calfornia. In its 45th year, the Expo is the largest annual agriculture trade fair, highlighting the latest in farm equipment, chemicals, communications, and technology. During SoCalGas’ customer appreciation dinner, Snyder discussed the many benefits of natural gas and how it is an important part of California’s clean energy future. Snyder pointed out that when considering cost, efficiency and environmental benefits, natural gas is one of the nation’s most versatile energy sources.
CLEAN-tech Investor Summit in Indian Wells, California on Feb. 2, 2012
Michael Allman, President and CEO of Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), discussed “The Role of Natural Gas in the Sustainable Energy Future” during this annual event that brings together clean-tech investors, corporate executives, entrepreneurs and service providers to discuss emerging technology, policy, market and venture capital investment trends. Allman explained why natural gas plays a vital role in the nation’s energy supply today and will continue to be important in the future.
Natural Gas Vehicle Infrastructure Conference and Exhibition in Houston, Texas on Jan. 23-24, 2012
Michael Allman, President and CEO of Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), addressed “The NGV Revolution in North America -- What It Will Take” during this conference, which addressed the challenges and identified opportunities to accelerate the adoption of Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) infrastructure across North America. Allman described NGVs as a clean, economical solution to the nation’s air quality and greenhouse gas challenges. He concluded that action is needed on many fronts -- with utilities playing a key role -- to seize the opportunities and make NGVs commonplace in America.

Michael Allman, President and CEO of Southern California Gas Company, discussed “Natural Gas: Powering the Economy with Clean Energy” during the annual VerdeXchange conference in Los Angeles, California. The event brings together more than 500 industry leaders from various sectors of the green economy, along with government officials from the local, regional, and international levels to share best practices and tackle some of the most pressing energy issues. During his presentation, Allman discussed the many benefits of natural gas and explained why it is one of the nation’s most versatile energy sources.

“The Next Generation: Near-Zero Emissions Natural Gas Vehicles” seminar on Nov. 29, 2011
Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and the Coalition for Clean Air co-hosted the second in a series of free seminars on natural gas and California’s energy future on Nov. 29, 2011 in Los Angeles. At this seminar, we explored the future of natural gas vehicle technology and current investments in producing the next generation of natural gas vehicles that are near-zero emissions. Guests representing a variety of sectors and constituencies attended to learn more about the opportunity for the next generation of natural gas vehicles to help be part of the solution to clean the air in Southern California.
Experts representing policy, engine technology and business presented and discussed the opportunity for advanced natural gas vehicles, and current technology and R&D efforts to make these vehicles even cleaner than they are today. Their presentations can be downloaded here in PDF format.

"Natural Gas and Southern California's Renewable Energy Future" seminar on June 14, 2011
Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and the Coalition for Clean Air co-hosted a free, half-day seminar on June 14, 2011 in Los Angeles. We explored the relationship between renewable energy and natural gas. We also considered opportunities for expanding the use of renewable natural gas in Southern California.
More than 100 guests attended to learn more about the crucial role natural gas plays to support the consistent delivery of energy generated by renewables. Experts and company executives representing a variety of different renewable technologies and projects gave presentations. They discussed the symbiotic relationship between natural gas and renewables, as well as the increasing role of renewable natural gas (also known as biomethane) as an energy source.
