M. Angelica Espinosa

    M. Angelica Espinosa is vice president of gas acquisition for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), a Sempra Energy regulated California utility. Espinosa is responsible for procuring all the gas for SoCalGas’ residential and small commercial customers and delivering gas to the utility’s system. She also oversees the procurement of SoCalGas’ carbon allowances and offsets that are required to comply with California’s Cap-and-Trade program.

    Previously, Espinosa was vice president of safety and compliance and chief risk officer for SoCalGas. Prior to that, she was the chief risk officer for both SoCalGas and Sand Diego Gas and Electric and previously she served as the vice president of compliance and governance and corporate secretary for Sempra Energy. She joined Sempra Energy in 2014 as chief counsel overseeing legal affairs for the company’s international businesses and Sempra LNG. Espinosa also has served as corporate secretary for IEnova, and a member of the board of directors of Luz del Sur and Chilquinta Energía

    Espinosa also has held legal leadership positions at General Electric (GE), including regional counsel for Latin America, associate general counsel for commercial operations in GE’s Oil & Gas division and general counsel for the Measurement and Control Division of GE Oil & Gas.
     
    Espinosa graduated magna cum laude with law and master’s degrees from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and also holds a law degree from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
