Michael M. Schneider
Chief Environmental Officer and Vice President, Operations Support and Sustainability
Michael M. Schneider is vice president, operations support and sustainability and chief environmental officer for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Sempra Energy’s regulated California utilities. He is responsible for facilities, fleet services, environmental services and clean transportation.
Over the last 22 years, Schneider has held various positions with SoCalGas and SDG&E in finance, customer services and regulatory affairs. Previously, he served as vice president, customer operations, where he oversaw billing, collections, the customer contact center and meter reading organization, remittance processing and credit. Prior to joining Sempra Energy, he was an energy economist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Office of Electric Power Regulation.
Schneider serves as chair of the industry advisory board at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona and is on the advisory board and director's circle of the Lamden School of Accountancy at San Diego State University. He is also a former board member of Junior Achievement of Southern California and the Greater Los Angeles Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Schneider holds a master's degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from George Mason University and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Arizona.
