New Research on Methane Emissions

Learn about the latest research on methane emissions from the local distribution of natural gas.

On April 7, 2015, SoCalGas® hosted a webinar that illustrated the latest research on methane emissions from the local distribution of natural gas, and demonstrated how the data was used to estimate emissions from distribution systems nationally.

The webinar featured Washington State University’s lead researcher for the new study that measured methane emissions from local natural gas utility distribution systems, a representative from the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and a SoCalGas representative who reviewed the research findings, research methodology and implications for California’s methane emissions policy.
