Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) Fuel Card Incentive Program
The LCFS Fuel Card Incentive Program is designed to improve vehicle economics and encourage adoption for decarbonized RNG trucks. Under this program, customers that purchase a new, Class 8 heavy-duty near-zero emission RNG truck will be eligible to receive a pre-loaded fuel card with funds to be used at SoCalGas fueling stations.
Program Update:
As of September 1, 2026, we are establishing a three-year timeframe for customers to utilize the balance of their fuel cards. This three-year expiration window mirrors standard financial industry practices, providing a familiar and manageable timeline for your team.
The rollout of this new policy will take place as follows:
• Existing Fuel Cards: For all active cards currently in use, your three-year expiration period begins September 1, 2026.
• Replacement Cards: For replacement cards issued due to a card being reported lost or stolen, the new card will inherit the original card's expiration date.
• Future Fuel Cards: For any new cards issued moving forward, the three-year expiration period will begin exactly on the specific date the card is issued.
• Card Returns and Discontinuation: If you no longer wish to use your fuel card or would like to return it and close your account prior to the expiration date, please contact our team directly using the email below to initiate the return process.

Priority in the funding queue will be given in the following order:
- Date of application submission
- Customer fleets of less than 10 vehicles
- Customer fleets of 10 or more vehicles until funds run out.
The SoCalGas LCFS Fuel Card Incentive Program Solicitation Period (Solicitation Period) will end six months from Program launch date.
The amount to be loaded on pre-paid fuel card will be announced with the solicitation period. The amount will be designed to significantly offset fuel costs, enhance vehicle economics, and shorten the return of the investment timeline.
Customers are only allowed to use the SoCalGas LCFS Fuel Card at SoCalGas public-access stations.

Applications received prior to the end of the Solicitation Period will be evaluated for qualification as set forth within the Program Rules, then placed in either the funding queue or on the waiting list, based on available funds. Customers will be notified what position they fall into within ten (10) business days of the end of the Solicitation Period. Customers placed on waiting list will be notified at a later date IF they are moved into the funding queue.
One fueling card will be provided for each new, Class 8 heavy-duty truck. Customers that procure more than one truck will be eligible for multiple fueling cards (one fueling card per truck).
Cards will be good until funds on the cards are exhausted.
After applications have been submitted, customers will be provided a reference number to access their application online to (1) cancel their application or (2) reduce the number of trucks to order. An additional (separate) application will have to be submitted to change the truck type or increase the number of trucks to order.
Yes, the SCG LCFS Fuel Card expires three years from the date it is issued.
