Check Your Eligibility and Apply for Business Equipment Rebates

Follow the steps below to get started!

 

  1. Download and review the 2025 EE Business Rebate Guide to check eligibility.
  2. Purchase and install new eligible, energy efficient natural gas equipment.
  3. Complete the online application and include all of the following items:
    1. A copy of the signed W9 for the rebate payee.
    2. Paid receipt(s)/proof of purchase(s) in PDF, JPEG or Microsoft Word format.
    3. Copy of equipment manufacturer specification sheet or pertinent agency website qualifying documentation.
    4. If rebate check will go to a third party, please complete the Check Authorization Form.
    5. For Space Heating Boilers: Must be installed by licensed contractors in order to qualify for a rebate. Contractors performing the installation must complete the Space Heating Authorization Form.
    6. Form 590 is required for all exempt and nonexempt payees, except government entities.

  1. This measure will be limited to 250 kits for coin-operated laundry eligible facilities and 1,000 kits for all other non-coin operated laundry eligible facilities. Please contact us prior to purchase to ensure you are eligible for the rebate.
  2. No replacement of existing pool covers (regardless of condition) and must not have had a cover for the past 6 months.
  3. If the tankless commercial water heater supplies a hot water circulation loop, an intermediary hot water storage tank must also be attached to the loop.

Basic Equipment Requirements

  • All equipment must be new natural gas-fired equipment. Fuel switching does not qualify. All equipment must replace older equipment, with the exception of commercial cooking equipment.
  • Qualified equipment must be installed within one year of the purchase date. Applications must be submitted within the same calendar year as the installation year.
  • All required efficiencies must exceed California Title 20 and 24 standards.

Refer to California Energy Commission’s database for certified storage or tankless water heater equipment type. Under California law, models of certain types of appliances must be certified by the California Energy Commission before being sold or offered for sale in California. Some equipment in the Energy Commission's database may not be eligible for the Midstream Commercial Water Heater Distributor Rebate Program due to Program guidelines.

 

Customized Incentives

We offer opportunities for businesses to lower investment costs when planning efficiency retrofit projects involving the installation of high-efficiency equipment or systems. We also provide incentives for replacing equipment, enhancing business processes, and designing new facilities or expanding existing ones.

 

Tax Notice for Applicants

The following clarification on IRS tax reporting has been made to all rebate/incentive applications:

Rebates are taxable if greater than $600 for business customers, and will be reported to the IRS unless you have identified yourself as a corporation or exempt.

SoCalGas will report your rebate as income to you on IRS Form 1099. You are urged to consult your tax advisor concerning the taxability of rebates. SoCalGas is not responsible for any taxes that may be imposed on your business as a result of receipt of this rebate.

For customers who've authorized a payment release to a third party, SoCalGas will report the payment made to the third party on IRS Form 1099 as "Other Income" unless the check received is less than $600, or the payee is identified as a corporation or exempt.

[1] Only the SoCalGas Customer rebates are offered through the point of sale rebate program.

[2] To qualify for a rebate, qualified equipment must be installed within one year of the purchased date. Applications must be submitted within the same calendar year as the installation year. All rebate items must be purchased and installed prior to submitting an application for a rebate. 

The Energy Efficiency Rebates for Business Program is funded by California utility customers and administered by Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission. Program funds, including any funds utilized for rebates or incentives, will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until such funds are no longer available. This program may be modified or terminated without prior notice. The selection, purchase and ownership of goods and/or services are the sole responsibility of the customer.
