LCFS Fuel Card Incentive Program
The Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) Fuel Card Incentive Program is designed to improve vehicle economics and encourage adoption for near zero emission RNG trucks and new zero emission fuel cell electric hydrogen trucks. (NOTE: Hydrogen fuel cards will only be available once SoCalGas receives appropriate regulatory approvals to own and operate hydrogen fueling stations and such stations are constructed and begin operation). Under this program, customers that purchase a new, Class 8 heavy-duty near-zero emission RNG truck will be eligible to receive a pre-loaded fuel card with funds to be used at SoCalGas fueling stations. This application period has ended. The next solicitation period will be in 2025, date TBD.
FAQ
Priority in the funding queue will be given in the following order:
- Date of application submission
- Class 8 heavy-duty hydrogen truck purchases
- Class 8 heavy-duty RNG truck purchases
- Customer fleets of less than 10 vehicles
- Customer fleets of 10 or more vehicles until funds run out.
Hydrogen fuel cards will only be available once SoCalGas receives appropriate regulatory approvals to own and operate hydrogen fueling stations and such stations are constructed and begin operation.
The SoCalGas LCFS Fuel Card Incentive Program Solicitation Period (Solicitation Period) will end ninety days from Program launch date.
The amount to be loaded on pre-paid fuel card will be announced with the solicitation period. The amount will be designed to significantly offset fuel costs, enhance vehicle economics, and shorten the return of the investment timeline.
Customers are only allowed to use the SoCalGas LCFS Fuel Card at SoCalGas public-access stations.

Applications received prior to the end of the Solicitation Period will be evaluated for qualification as set forth within the Program Rules, then placed in either the funding queue or on the waiting list, based on available funds. Customers will be notified what position they fall into within ten (10) business days of the end of the Solicitation Period. Customers placed on waiting list will be notified at a later date IF they are moved into the funding queue.
One fueling card will be provided for each new, Class 8 heavy-duty truck. Customers that procure more than one truck will be eligible for multiple fueling cards (one fueling card per truck).
Cards will be good until funds on the cards are exhausted.
After applications have been submitted, customers will be provided a reference number to access their application online to (1) cancel their application or (2) reduce the number of trucks to order. An additional (separate) application will have to be submitted to change the truck type or increase the number of trucks to order.
If the SoCalGas LCFS Fuel Card is lost or stolen, the customer must contact their SoCalGas representative immediately for a replacement Fuel Card. SoCalGas will not be responsible to refund any prepaid funds used on cards.
