We recognize that many of our customers use assistive technologies that need to interact with our website.
We are working with the Center for Accessible Technology (CforAT) to assess our website and help make it more accessible. We've started working on the areas of the site that are most frequently visited by our customers, including the My Account pages.
Accessibility changes include:
- Alternative text details for images and other non-text elements
- Better color contrast and intensity
- Title attributes for additional information about links and indication of new browser windows
- Structural markup to indicate headings and lists to aid in page comprehension
- Association of forms with labels
Our accessibility logo is added to pages that meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA priority. It marks our efforts to produce web pages that meet this international standard for web content accessibility.
Accessibility is an ongoing process and there are some parts of our website that will take longer to fix than others. For example, the search box and search results overlay are not currently accessible. SoCalGas® is continuously working with our third-party search providers to make the experience more accessible.
SoCalGas recognizes that website accessibility is rapidly evolving and that changes in technology will require us to update our accessibility efforts on a regular basis. We know that changes may inadvertently impact accessibility of the site, therefore we will continually review the accessibility of our website and welcome feedback from our customers.
Together, we can make sure that all SoCalGas customers will be able to use the website and have access to the same information.
