Hope for the Holidays: A Season of Giving and Community Impact
Dec. 23, 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, SoCalGas celebrates the success of Hope for the Holidays, its refreshed employee-driven initiative that brought warmth, generosity, and hands-on volunteerism to communities across Southern California. This program was designed to empower employees to nominate nonprofits making a difference, with selected organizations receiving a one-time $1,500 charitable grant and the support of SoCalGas volunteers during the holiday season.
There were 17 selected volunteer projects as part of this initiative, activating 483 volunteers and logging 1,685 volunteer hours.

From November through December, employees participated in dozens of volunteer events that touched lives across the region. Activities ranged from assembling care kits and wrapping toys to supporting families in need. These efforts reflect our commitment to creating a season of service and spreading hope where it’s needed most.
A Few Volunteer Highlights:
- Edison Language Academy Holiday Shoe Drive – Providing new shoes to students in need.
- Growing Holiday Cheer Garden Restoration at Poplar Elementary School – Preparing the soil, building raised beds, and painting decorative rocks for a school in Fontana.
- OC Food Bank National Family Volunteer Day – Packing food boxes for local families. LA Family Housing Winter Wonderland – Bringing holiday cheer to families experiencing homelessness.
- Hope Through Housing Foundation Colonies Holiday Miracles – Spreading holiday joy to children in need through festive shopping and celebration.
- Heart of Los Angeles Party in the Park – Celebrating the season with youth and families.
- Care Kits and Toy Wrapping Event at Monterey Park Base – Preparing gifts for distribution to underserved communities.
These events were made possible by the passion and dedication of SoCalGas employees who volunteered their time to make a difference.
"Hope for the Holidays is a chance for us to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most," said Sarita Figuroa, Senior Manager of Community Relations for SoCalGas. "Seeing employees come together to support so many organizations was truly inspiring."
Argelia Alvarado Gonzales, who led the Growing Holiday Cheer Garden Restoration volunteer project, shared: "Seeing all the volunteers come together with such enthusiasm to create a beautiful space was truly rewarding. This project will have a lasting impact, benefiting the community for years to come."
Hope for the Holidays is just one example of how SoCalGas employees live our values of service and community impact.
