The SoCalGas Scholarship Program encourages students to pursue higher education and supports their academic endeavors. Our objective is to create a diverse pool of future scientists, mathematicians, technology experts, and engineers that can help address the complex issues our communities face today and tomorrow.
SoCalGas has awarded more than $3.5 million in scholarships to 2,326 students through the scholarship programs since 2001.

2024 Scholarship Application will open February 5, 2024
4-Year University Program
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a high school senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Live in the SoCalGas service territory
- Plan to attend a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. for the 2023/2024 academic year.
- Plan to enroll in an eligible major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Finance, Accounting. Medical-related fields are not eligible.
- Demonstrate financial need.
Community College or Trade School Program
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a high school senior or current college undergraduate with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
- Live in the SoCalGas service territory
- Plan to attend a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year college or trade school in the U.S. for the 2023/2024 academic year.
- Plan to enroll in an eligible major in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Plumbing, Electrical HVAC, or Welding. Medical-related fields are not eligible.
- Demonstrate financial need.
SoCalGas or any other Sempra Energy company employees, elected officials and employee’s children/grandchildren, and children of retired employees are not eligible to apply.
4-Year University Program
Up to fifteen (15) awards of $5,000 per year, totaling $20,000 over four years, will be granted. Awards are renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and continued full-time enrollment in one of the designated fields of study at a four-year college and the continuation of the program by SoCalGas.
Community College or Trade School Program
Up to (15) awards of $1,000. Awards are not renewable but prior recipients are eligible to re-apply.
