  • At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a safety valve on an above-ground pipeline at SoCalGas’ Playa del Rey facility activated, resulting in a brief natural gas release lasting approximately one minute.
  • The safety valve functioned as designed and closed on its own.
  • The facility is operating normally, with no ongoing release or safety concerns at this time.
  • SoCalGas has notified the appropriate local and state agencies.
