Vice President, Gas Acquisition
Paul Goldstein is vice president, gas acquisition for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), a Sempra Energy regulated California utility. In his role, Goldstein is responsible for procuring all of the natural gas for SoCalGas and San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E) residential and small commercial customers and delivering that gas to the utilities’ system. He also oversees the procurement of SoCalGas’ carbon allowances and offsets that are required to comply with California’s Cap-and-Trade program.
Goldstein has been in the energy industry for more than 20 years. Prior to his current role, he served as director – special projects, where he supported the development of recommendations to enhance the reliability of the gas transmission pipeline system for SoCalGas and SDG&E.
Goldstein also previously served as director of fuel supply for Sempra Generation and managing director for Sempra U.S. Gas & Power. Prior to joining SoCalGas in 1998 as a senior supply forecast analyst, he held a variety of engineering and operations roles at Nicor Energy in the Chicago area.
Goldstein currently serves as a board member of Junior Achievement of Southern California. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Cornell University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.
