• On the afternoon of Saturday, December 27, SoCalGas detected a natural gas pipeline break near the 5 freeway and Lake Hughes Road, in the community of Castaic, and took prompt action to shut-in the impacted pipeline segment.
• Field crews responded immediately and worked to physically isolate the affected section.
• The cause of the break remains under investigation. However, significant land movement has been observed at the site, and a preliminary geological inspection indicates this was the most likely cause of the pipeline break.
• Crews will be working over the coming weeks to conduct permanent repairs and restore normal pipeline operations.
• Currently, there are no natural gas customers experiencing a disruption of service as a result of the break.
