Project Background
On Saturday, December 27, 2025, SoCalGas detected a natural gas pipeline break near the I-5 Freeway and Ridge Route Road in the community of Castaic. SoCalGas took prompt action to safely stop the flow of gas to the impacted pipeline segment.
The break occurred following heavy rainfall. Geological and engineering evaluations determined that a significant landslide in the area caused the pipeline break.
Project Status
Repairs to the impacted pipeline segment have been completed, and the pipeline was returned to service on August 1, 2026. Site restoration and demobilization activities were completed on September 30, 2026.
SoCalGas also successfully completed assessments of adjacent pipeline sections in the Castaic area to support continued safe and reliable operation of the system.
