Public Workshop Notice
This joint public workshop brought together Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E),California Energy Commission, and SoCalGas to present and discuss the proposed 2026 Gas Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) investment plans. The session provided an overview of research priorities, including gas system integrity, decarbonization, and emerging technologies, and gathered stakeholder feedback to inform future RD&D funding decisions before submission to the California Public Utilities Commission.

Decarbonizing California’s Large Commercial & Industry Facilities with Hydrogen – Experimental and Statewide Impact Assessment
Join SoCalGas and GTI Energy for an insightful webinar exploring a recent study assessing the potential use of hydrogen-based fuels in California’s commercial and industrial facilities. This webinar will summarize the study’s findings, with a focus on the equipment testing conducted under controlled conditions. In these tests, many units operated with hydrogen blends up to 80% by volume, and the study evaluated how blending affects combustion behavior and related emissions characteristics. Building on the testing results, the team also examined factors that may influence the upper limits of adopting hydrogen-based fuels, including recent advancements and techniques, combustion testing and simulation, material testing, and regional air quality modeling, in addition to extensive stakeholder engagement and outreach.
